This fan belt pulley is needed when installing an alternator on Chevrolet & GMC engines that originally had a wide fan belt. This would include all engines prior to 1953. The pulley must be changed on the alternator to match the wider belt pulleys on the crankshaft and water pump. Because this pulley diameter is smaller, a shorter fan belt may be necessary. Pulley Dimensions: 3/8 to 3/4" WIDE - V; 43/64" shaft; 2-7/16 overall pulley diameter.

This is a 12-VOLT CHROME Alternator, Internally Regulated, NEGATIVE GROUND. Note: specify positive (GMC) or negative (Chevy) ground when ordering alternators. 55-60 AMP OUTPUT Comes with narrow belt pulley. Price is for exchange only. Add $65.00 If no exchange core is returned. NOTE: This alternator is a one wire alternator, however, the belt must be tight enough so that, when trying to turn the alternator fan, you cannot slip it by hand. DO NOT CHECK BELT TENSION BY PUSHING ON THE BELT. In some cases the alternator needs higher RPMs to activate. Once the alternator activates, it will continue to charge at lower RPM.
