The baffle plate is often rusted out and should be replaced whenever rebuilding the water pump. There were two different sizes of baffle plates. This plate is the smaller one and has an outside diameter (OD) of 3.2475". AF-188L has an OD of 3.31". Both plates have an inside diameter of 1.750". Compare to your original baffle plate or water pump housing. The plate must fit tightly into the recess in the pump housing.
