CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! This water pump has bushings instead of bearings and it requires REGULAR MAINTENANCE. The bushing at the front (under the pulley) should be lubricated with a few drops of engine oil each time the car is driven. There is a grease cup on the side that needs to be greased on a regular basis (about every 100 miles). Turn in the grease cup until pressure is felt. The packing nut should be turned in whenever leaking is noticed. When there are no more threads on the packing nut, it will require new packing. FAN BELT ADJUSTMENT Bushing type water pumps MUST have loose belt tension. If the belt is adjusted too tight, it will heat up the bushings and cause bushing failure. KEEP BELT TENSION LOOSE - only tight enough to spin the fan blade!
