1929 Chevrolet 8860 IMPERIAL LANDAU International (4-Door Sedan Withe Rear Convertible Top-107" Wheelbase)
In late December of 1928 Chevrolet introduced the 194 cubic inch straight six engine, affectionately referred to as the "Stove Bolt Six" and the "Cast Iron Wonder". This new engine had 46 horsepower and three main bearings. The chassis had a 107 inch wheelbase and came equipped with standard 20" disc wheels but accessory wire wheels were also offered. In addition, you could special order wood wheels from the parts department. This car came with an electric temperature gauge with a temperature sender mounted on the front of the cylinder head. Crankcase ventilation was accomplished by having the spark plug holes open in the push rod cover.
The 1929 model year established a record in Chevrolet sales with one million, three hundred fifty thousand cars & trucks delivered. The Convertible Landau came standard with a rear folding top and sold for $725.00, the most expensive car produced by Chevrolet in 1929. Chevrolet's slogan for 1929 was "A Six in the Price Range of the Four."
